TIPS ON WRITING A CV

Important things to consider when writing a great CV

In the run up to 2024 we thought we would send you some (what we hope will be) useful factsheets to assist you in making the right decision when it comes to obtaining that all important first job. Today we want to talk about CV writing. Our agency can provide you with both help in writing your CV and also feedback on the finished article. This is a completely free service to use. We can also provide you with an example graduate CV (approved by practice’s) and if you would like a copy then please do not hesitate to email or call us.

Layout is key!

  • Make sure your CV is well laid out and easy to read - ideally no more than 2 A4 pages long.
  • Bullet points are useful to highlight relevant skills, experience and procedures.

Tailoring

  • Demonstrate your suitability for the exact position.
  • For new graduates EMS Placements are really important – detail experience gained during these e.g.
    procedures performed etc.

Accuracy

  • Ensure all dates are accurate (e.g. 12th of January 2006 - 22nd of April 2008).
  • List everything in reverse chronological order - most recent achievements first.

About You

  • Briefly summarise your interests and hobbies.
  • This is a few short lines that sum up who you are and what you hope to do.
  • Try to show the skills you have through your hobbies and interests.

References

  • Provide written references where
    possible and make sure contact
    information is correct.

Proof Read!

  • Most importantly, always thoroughly proof read your CV or ask someone
    else to read it before you send it out – correct spelling and grammar is
    essential!
